Xlapak belongs to the Puuc region and lived its heyday between 600 and 1000 AD. Like most of the inhabitants of the Mayan area, the inhabitants of Xlapac dedicated themselves to cultivating the land, building chultunes (cisterns) and aguadas to catch rainwater. They were deeply religious and worshiped Chaac, the rain god, on whom depended for their sustenance, loss or achievement of their crops.
