Tour to Isla Contoy

The tour to Contoy Island is one of the most beautiful and interesting in the Mexican Caribbean. This beautiful island, to the north of Isla Mujeres, is a protected natural area, totally unspoiled and passionate to all who visit it and who love nature.

Admire the beautiful colors of the turquoise blue sea, the deserted white sand beaches amidst lush tropical vegetation surrounded by tropical birds and fish.

The surrounding waters of Contoy are very rich in nutrients that serve as food for the seedling that constitutes the food base of more than 234 species of fish identified in the area, including the majestic whale sharks and manta rays that feed near its coasts.

The Ixlaché Reef is full of beautiful species of corals, fish and organisms of great commercial value such as spiny lobster and queen conch.

The number of visitors to Isla Contoy is limited to 200 people per day, the tours depart from Puerto Juarez or Isla Mujeres and the transfer time lasts from 1 to 2 hours depending on the departure point and the weather.

The tour departs at 9 in the morning from two locations, Punta Sam north of Puerto Juárez or from the Las Jaibas restaurant in Puerto Juárez.

The first stop is to snorkel at the reef called Ixlache for a period of 30 minutes and from there we continue our trip to Isla Contoy.

Upon arrival on the island, a tour of the museum of the island and its surroundings is made while food is prepared on the beach

Fish or chicken is made on charcoal grills, which is served in the island's dining room, at the end of eating they have free time to rest and we leave the island back at 2 pm to go to Isla Mujeres where they will have 1 hour free to visit the center of this other island to later return to Puerto Juárez

You can leave Isla Mujeres but we make a stop at Punta Sam to pick up more people, on the return if it is direct to Isla Mujeres.

Given the limited spaces per boat for the Contoy tour, all reservations for this tour are made and prepaid in advance.
