Kantun Chi is located in the heart of the Riviera Maya. This is an ecological park and its name means "yellow stone mouth" in Mayan.
Swim in the wonderful fresh water cenotes and explore our underground cavern with its exceptional natural beauty, in this magical paradise you will live an unforgettable experience while you relax and enjoy the natural wonders.
Cenotes are extraordinary natural formations, formed when rainwater seeps through cracks in limestone rocks, dissolving soft areas of rock rocks due to the acidity of the rain. Over time, underground caverns with rocky roofs are formed, some of which can be quite large, when rainwater finally dissolves most of the limestone that covers the caverns, the roof collapses into young cenotes.
The cenotes of this park provided water to the ancient Mayans and to the wildlife of the place, the Mayans believed that in the cenotes they could purify their souls and before entering a cenote either to collect water to drink or bathe, the Mayans performed a ceremony to request permission from the god of water: "Chaac y los Aluxes".
