The Alley of Murals is one of the cultural gems of Tekax, Yucatán. This artistic space is located right in the heart of the town, next to the Municipal Palace, making it a must-see for anyone visiting this Magic Town.
This alley is adorned with more than 10 murals that tell the story, traditions, and legends of Tekax, as well as the natural and cultural richness of the region. The murals were painted by a group of talented artists from Tekax and Oxkutzcab, who have poured their passion and dedication into capturing the soul and spirit of their community on the alley’s walls.
Each mural reflects the everyday life and Mayan roots of Tekax, allowing visitors to learn more about Yucatecan culture through art. In addition to being a space for artistic expression, the Alley of Murals is also a gathering place for the community, where cultural events are held, and tourism is promoted.
Among the murals, you can see a beautiful one depicting the mestiza and the hummingbird. Across from it, there's a mural showcasing Tekax's attractions, such as its caves, the toh bird, the Chacmultún archaeological site, a mural dedicated to the trova composer Ricardo Palmerín, and the mural of the Mayan ceiba tree, among others.
Located in one of the most emblematic areas of Tekax, the Alley of Murals is not just a place to admire art but also to immerse yourself in the history and traditions of this region of Yucatán.
