The Best Photo Spots (Instagrammable)

Cenote Diana Balchee is a paradise for photography lovers, combining history and color:

  • The Henequén Truck: A restored old henequén truck stands as a symbol of Cuzamá’s history. This vehicle, essential during the Henequén Era for transporting agave leaves to the fiber mill, is an unmissable photo spot that pays tribute to Yucatán’s past.

The Heart of the Site: The Impressive Pool

Right in the center of the property, before descending into the cenote, you’ll find an impressive pool designed for everyone’s enjoyment. The pool includes a safe wading area for children and a section for adults with varying depths. Around it, under the shade of the trees, there are tables and chairs perfect for relaxing.

Cenote Diana Balchee: The Underground Treasure

Access to the cenote is itself an architectural experience. As you descend the stone stairs, you’ll encounter a large opening in the rock about 4 meters wide. Follow the path that takes you approximately 12 meters underground.

Once below, you’ll witness a gigantic rock dome that appears as the entrance to an ancient chapel carved into the stone, majestically reflected in the sacred waters of the cenote.

  • Cenote Features: It is a semi-open or cavern-type cenote. Its depth ranges from 2 to 4 meters, making it spacious enough for comfortable swimming.
  • Emerald and Crystal-Clear Waters: The water takes on a beautiful emerald green tone due to the reflection of the dome and minerals. However, once submerged, you’ll see that it is remarkably clear, offering excellent visibility if you use goggles or a mask. The water, always fresh, is perfect for cooling off from the peninsula’s heat.
  • Swimming Infrastructure: It has a stone walkway around the perimeter and a second wooden walkway that facilitates access. In addition, there is a safety rope on one side and sturdy wooden stairs to easily enter and exit the water.
