In front of the main square of Izamal, there is an old house from the 16th century , very famous among the inhabitants of Izamal and much visited by tourists, it is the Cultural and Craft Center of Izamal, installed in said enclosure.

Restored shortly after having been a hotel, the cultural center opened its doors in 2006 with the support of the Fundación Haciendas del Mundo Maya, the Fomento de Cultura Banamex and the Fundación Pedro y Elena Hernández; It is attended by a group of young residents of Izamal, who offer visitors tours in which they explain each element observed and some important data.

Handcrafted pieces divided into 5 categories are exhibited here: clay, wood, metal, vegetable fibers, textiles, and several, including seeds, leather, feathers, stone, paper, and more.

The exponents are the most important artisans of the yellow city, it is their works that are observed here, as part of a project of the Banamex Cultural Development to rescue this great work. And for greater security of the authors, all the objects protected here have insurance against theft and damage, in addition to the fact that once a year they are carefully moved momentarily for cleaning.

In addition to the exhibition halls, it also has a store where you can buy various handicrafts, a restaurant to enjoy exquisite Yucatecan dishes, but also the Cultural Center has a spa where you can relax and then continue with the day.
