The streets of the city of Merida house a large amount of history due to their years, at first the city was made up only of the territory that today comprises the downtown area, with the passage of time the city expanded to what is known in today and that continues to increase.

In 1690, a project was proposed that would allow the fortification of the limits of Merida, as is the city of Campeche, however it never proceeded, although three arches had already been built around the territory, one of them is the Arch of San Juan.

Framing the old exit to the Camino Real to Campeche, this arch rises, being the largest, compared to the other two, in it a niche is observed in its highest part in which the image of San Juan Bautista stands out.
It is located on 69 street with 69 A downtown, in front of the park and the church of San Juan, a few minutes from the Ermita de Santa Isabel.
