Rio Lagartos Xplore is a cooperative of local Guides that have been organized to offer the general public tours of the Ria Lagartos Biosphere with the aim of teaching the natural riches of the place, taking care of them and working without affecting the surrounding biodiversity. to the state.

Bird and Crocodile Observation

One of the attractions that Rio Lagartos has are the Flamingos that come to feed and nest in the Biosphere, and that offer a beautiful spectacle when they arrive in large flocks painting the sky pink. You can come and take a tour where they will gladly take you to visit these extraordinary birds.

The tour begins when you board a boat that will take you through large expanses of estuary where all kinds of birds find a refuge to nest and feed. Throughout the place you will see 4 kinds of mangroves, the red, the black, the white and the buttonhole in which you can see the white herons, pelicans, cormorants, ospreys, storks and on its shores you can usually observe some crocodiles basking in the sun.

Then we will arrive at an estuary that will give us access to see more of the pink family while they feed, they will only have to be very quiet since like any bird they are easily scared. While you walk to admire them you will see some sea cockroaches that are walking around the place, some balloon fish and other species of birds.

At the end of the sighting of famingos, they will be directed to the "Mayan Bath" where they will enjoy cooling off in a mud of pink or golden water, this due to its high concentrations of sulfur, minerals, salts and algae that it has which act as exfoliants for the skin leaving a feeling of softness throughout our body. Thanks to its high amounts of salt in this mud you will float easily and its accumulation creates a white foam that will completely envelop you, giving you the feeling of being in a jacuzzi.

When we leave the mud we will return to the edge of the stereo where you will see some holes in the ground where they will remove the clay that you can smear all over your body and spread it while you apply it, this will serve as a repellent so that the tabanos do not bite you.

The Beach

Then everyone covered with clay will transfer them to the beach with crystal clear emerald green waters, where they will be able to bathe and get rid of all the clay from their bodies. The beach has some palapas where you can rest for a while if you wish.

To finish again you will return to the boathouse from where you left, but you will return with new experiences and unforgettable memories.

The tour takes approximately 2 to 3 hours, the boats have capacity for up to 6 people and are equipped with life jackets, shade, seats and a first aid kit.
